FCC votes to subsidize broadband for low-income households

It’s about time. The internet is too important of a tool in today’s life to not be available to everyone. It is becoming more and more important to have internet access if you want to participate in society. We can’t leave a whole class of people out of that participation.

The first [proposal approved by the FCC] is an overhaul to its Lifeline program, which subsidizes phone service for low-income Americans and should soon also be able to subsidize high-speed internet, furthering the commission’s goal of seeing access spread across the country.
