About

I am a writer of words, a thinker of thoughts, a changer of genders, and a queerer of life. I am an antagonist of the ordinary; and while I do tolerate it, I also look at it with contempt. I was born a baby, I assumed the role of a male, grew up, married, then recast myself in the role of a female. I am a role model for the overweight, out of shape, middle-aged, deliriously happy bureaucrat that failed to reach the bottom wrung of the corporate ladder.

I moved to a place in the wilds of Oklahoma which quickly became known as Queer Hill. This sounded so much like a sanctuary that I adopted the name for my home, my blog, and social media accounts. With any kind of luck, Queer Hill, OK will one day be an actual spot on the map.

My wife and I rescued each other from a life of normalcy, then promptly began to rescue animals. We currently have three rescued cats and one two rescued dogs; not counting all the wild critters that make Queer Hill their home.

I can be reached at marisa@queerhill.com
